  • Teacher Emergency First Aid Kit/National FFA Resources – Laura Crosby
    • Tired? Sick? In need of a quick win? Need a last minute lesson plan? Build your Teacher Emergency First Aid Kit to have resources at your fingertips whenever you need them. Attend this session to learn about the vast educational resources from National FFA and how to implement them in your future classroom, saving you time and energy. You will walk away from this session with your favorite resources that you can implement in your classroom tomorrow!
  • Writing a competitive SARE grant to assist you in teaching your students – Lais McCartney, Indiana SARE(Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education)
    • using a logic model, looking at various past grants awarded and thinking about options and what could help you and your students with funding.
  • Wool Judging – Cassie Wallpe
    • Struggling to teach your FFA Skillathon Team the basics of wool evaluation? Join us in a session that explores the basics of placing a class of fleeces and dissects the questions that are asked based on the given fleeces.    I will have 4-8 fleeces to look through and compare as well as a practice class as an example.   We will also touch on various scenarios and how that affects the placing. You will receive a hand-out to take back to your FFA practices, of which you can use as a guide for the next season.
  • Aquaponics/Hydroponics Tips – Olivia Lamey
    • Learn about aquaponics and hydroponic systems and how they are incorporated into our agriculture programs.

  • Incorporating Industry Certifications in CTE through iCEV – Amber Bedwell
    • Regardless of the educational or career goals a student has, industry certifications are valuable tools for achieving career success. Within CTE, certifications foster career development, boost employability and increase workplace productivity. iCEV is changing the way industry certifications are used in CTE. iCEV currently hosts 16 industry certifications on its testing platform. In this session, learn how easy it is to incorporate industry certifications in any learning environment and set your students on the path to success.
  • Proficiency Workshop –Steve Keown
    • Get assistance with the financial aspects of the proficiency application
  • School Farm Plot experiences – Jeanna Eppley & Micah Dillman
    • How to manage your school farm plot, inputs, community resources, grain marketing etc… and how to utilize the plot throughout your curriculum.
  • Agriscience Fair/National FFA – Cameron Frazier
    • Incorporate agriscience in the classroom using resources from National FFA. The purpose of this lesson series is to guide students through the agriscience research process.Skills learned through this process are in alignment with the National FFA Agriscience Fair award area.

  • Middle School Lesson Library – Lindi Kocher
    • Learn and explore new lessons added to the Middle School Agriscience Library. Cutting Edge Curriculum will demonstrate additional lessons added to the library in 2022 and preview 2023 lesson titles. A curriculum library offered to all Indiana agriculture teachers thanks to Indiana Soybean Alliance.
  • Harassment and Ethical Issues – Tami Ketchens
  • D is for Delegation – Lynn Schrock and Amanda Line
    • Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you love contest season but want some time for yourself? Then stop on by and learn some helpful tools to delegate responsibilities to members, parents and alumni. There will be a few take-a-ways for you to utilize in your chapter to alleviate some pressure to do everything
  • Foldables, Know Books, & Interactive Notebooking – Jessica Mars and Stacey Hartley
    • Learn how to incorporate various types of foldables and know books into your classroom through hands-on takeaways. Examples of interactive notebooking as an organizational strategy will also be shared.

  • Precision Agriculture in the Classroom – Travis Scherer & Matthew Armbruster
    • Learn about how teachers are approaching the new Precision Agriculture course, equipment used, and
  • Advisory Board Tips – Kate Skirvin/Janna Oxford
  • New or Newer Teacher Tips and Resources – Kay Huntsman, McCord Snider, & Gabe Nobbe
    • In this session we will discuss community support, classroom management, resources and tips for new and newer teachers who are starting their first years of teaching or starting a new program!
  • Using NLPS Pathways to Strengthen Your Program – Mariah Roberts with guidance from Tony Harl & Brittany Kloer
    • An overview of the new Next Level Program of Study pathways and graduation requirements will be presented. Hardcopies of the pathways will be provided, along with a sample handout for students and counselors.  Time will be alloted to review the classes and standards as well as connect with other teachers who teach pathways that you do.

 

2:00-2:40 Breakout 5

  • Teaching Nursery & Landscape Management – Roy Johnson
    • Making the most of your school year teaching Landscape and Turf Management. How to utilize the school grounds for practical, hands-on landscape projects and using the course to prepare students for Nursery/Landscape CDE.
  • Don’t Be Fooled! – Mariah Roberts
    • Our students are inundated with information in today’s world. Without farm backgrounds, it may be difficult to understand complex issues in agriculture because of the media around them.  Be prepared to participate (like a student), then take home a lesson on identifying propaganda and using reliable sources for research.  This lesson fits well in Principles of Ag, Agribusiness, Plant/Animal Science Pathway classes and is helpful for preparing students for the essay and speech LDEs.
  • Indiana Envirothon – Teddie Phillipson
  • Lesson/Lab Exchange – Lindsey Williams
    • Have a great lesson or lab to share?  This is an opportunity to share your ideas with others and take home some new lessons/labs.
